A photo shared on social media over the weekend shows some Kentucky victims were working tirelessly to clean up their homes after historic flooding.
“This is my Aunt Missy (Baker). She hasn’t stopped,” Jenny Buck said in describing her 66-year-old aunt who lost everything in the flood in Floyd County’s Estill Bottom.
“My Aunt Missy is precious,” Buck said. “She lives in the home she was raised in. Water has never gotten in the house. This time it came and destroyed everything. All her keepsakes, memories, furniture….everything.”
Buck’s late grandmother America Nichols, the librarian at Wayland and Garrett schools, also once lived at the house on a small creek bank holler between Lackey and Wayland.
Along with Baker’s keepsakes, the house had shelves lined with “amazing” books, said Buck.
“The people affected by this need manpower. Strong manpower. They are so tired, ” Buck said.
