Lexington restaurants’ 2022 year in review & year ahead

This was a busy year for Lexington’s food scene, with almost 50 new restaurants opening despite ongoing struggles with hiring enough workers, rising food costs and supply chain issues.

Those problems overwhelmed at least one new restaurant that closed after only six months and spelled the end for some longstanding restaurants and bars as well.

Not every change was bad: Several local spots transitioned either to new owners, new concepts or new locations. Others hung on with shorter hours and higher menu prices.

Despite the economic headwinds, Lexington has a lot of new local restaurants and national chain choices for dining including lots more desserts, tacos, chicken, burgers, biscuits and ethnic food options. Plus more on new dining options are coming in 2023.
