The 10th season of Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football tenure began with raised expectations but ended in disappointment.
Kentucky opened the year ranked in The Associated Press Top 25 for just the fifth time in program history. Reporters picked UK to finish second in the SEC East. Quarterback Will Levis is being mentioned as a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate and possible first-round NFL Draft pick.
But the Wildcats failed to cash in on that hype, falling out of the SEC East race by October. Levis battled injuries throughout the season, and Kentucky suffered disappointing home losses to South Carolina and Vanderbilt. The season ended with a 21-0 loss to Iowa in the Music City Bowl.
