Some flights are beginning to resume out of Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport after Winter Storm Blair.

Almost all flights were canceled Sunday when the storm dumped a combination of snow, ice and sleet on Central Kentucky. Many Monday morning flights were also canceled, but some airlines were beginning to resume service Monday afternoon, according to Blue Grass Airport’s website and officials.

“Our team has been working around the clock to keep our main runway operational. We have had flights arrive and depart today. At this point, cancellations are up to the airline completely and could be due to other factors -- since our runway is operational,” said Lauren Simmerman, a spokeswoman for Blue Grass Airport.

There have been minimal cancellations but some delays Monday afternoon, she said.

Passengers are encouraged to contact their airline directly for the latest information on flight departure times, Simmerman said.

Blue Grass Airport has service to several major hubs including Charlotte, N.C., Chicago and Atlanta. Major airlines that fly from Blue Grass include United, American Airlines, Delta and Allegiant.

Other area airports also had flight cancellations and delays. Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky International Airport also had multiple flight cancellations Sunday and Monday morning. Some flights were beginning to resume service Monday afternoon, many on several hour delays, according to the airport’s website.
